ideas and possibilities outlined below are designed to help
members of the local community as they think about what
could happen on this site. Nothing is fixed and alternative
solutions may well emerge over
the coming
decade - it is for the local community to decide and enable
it to happen. Email
here to volunteer to help and to send your ideas, reactions,
corrections to the SVP
team. 1. Visual
Attributes - update 2004 This
triangular section of land at the end of a grazing
field is overgrown and appears to be totally
neglected. Nettles, brambles and thistles dominate
the lower central flat area along the southern edge
and east corner of the site, from which a large
number of trees emerge, mostly ash. Wild flowers
(mainly vetch) and grasses cover a steep
south-facing bank to the north side. Many insects
are found on the site including bees, grasshoppers
and butterflies. A stone wall forms the boundary,
with a busy main road to the north edge and
Unsliven Road to the south. Dumping of garden waste
is evident just over the wall, probably from the
houses on the adjacent Unsliven Road. Safety The
regular passing of traffic during the day would
provide some surveillance of the site (but also
unwanted noise) and the bank side would offer a
comfortable and secure place to sit and enjoy the
sun. Activities
that the site supports at
present Dumping
of garden waste is common and desire lines on site
suggest that it is used as a short cut through to
the main road. 2. 3. Activities
that could be supported in the
future Ecology
