Nothing is fixed and alternative solutions may well emerge over the coming decade - it is for the local community to decide and enable it to happen. Email here to volunteer to help and to send your ideas, reactions, corrections to the SVP team. 1. Visual
Attributes - update 2004 This
flat patch of open grass next to Station Road is
opposite industrial works and bounded by a concrete
wall to the east side, segregating the site from a
lorry park. A parking bay and garages sit to the
lower southwest side, behind which the Little Don
River flows. A band of trees including sycamore,
ash and willow is situated to the south, following
the course of the river. The
site feels safe as it has an open aspect and is
situated near a busy main road (Wortley Road) and
is passed frequently by local workers.
Activities
that the site supports at
present There
is little evidence of use of this site except for
some fly tipping beneath the trees. This
area of unimproved grassland could be made into an
outdoor lunch area for local workers and customers
of the café on the opposite side of Station
Road. The untended amenity grass could be replaced
by shrubs or herbaceous plants to reduce
maintenance and improve the appearance of the site.
