ideas and possibilities outlined below are designed to help
members of the local community as they think about what
could happen on this site. Nothing is fixed and alternative
solutions may well emerge over
the coming
decade - it is for the local community to decide and enable
it to happen. 1. Visual
Attributes - update 2004 This
site consists of a large triangle of mown amenity
grass on the corner of Broomfield Road (a one-way
road to the northeast) and Bracken Moor Lane (to
the west). A narrow lane, segregated from the mown
grass area by a tall hawthorn hedge, is situated on
the southern edge of the site; it is used mainly by
pedestrians. Trees including field maple, birch,
beech and ash line the other side of this lane. Two
groups of trees break up the expanse of grass.
Houses on the opposite side of Bracken Moor Lane
overlook the site. The
site is adjacent to the well-used Bracken Moor Lane
and is open, with good sightlines, so it feels very
safe. Activities
that the site supports at
present The
site is used by people walking dogs and the lane is
used by pedestrians accessing the nearby houses.
2. 3. Activities
that could be supported in the
future Some
of the mown grass could be replaced with less
maintenance intensive plantings, which could also
increase the visual quality of the space.
