Nothing is fixed and alternative solutions may well emerge over the coming decade - it is for the local community to decide and enable it to happen. 1. Visual
Attributes - update 2004 This
neglected looking sloping site on the corner of
Haywood Avenue and Whitehead Avenue on the Stubbin
estate, consists of six concrete garages with a
tarmac area in front, which is damaged with weeds
growing through it. To the north of the garages, at
the lower end of the slope is a band of scruffy
mown amenity grass with three silver birches, one
of which has died and another which is leaning
quite severely. There is litter on the grass. A dry
stone wall, which is in need of repair, forms the
western boundary of the site, behind the
garages. The
site is surrounded by housing, so it appears safe
to use; however, it looks scruffy and uncared for,
giving it a slightly unfriendly feel. Activities
that the site supports at
present The
site is only used for parking cars. 2. Activities
that could be supported in the
future Some
of the mown grass could be replaced with less
maintenance intensive planting, which could also
increase the visual quality of the space. The area
of tarmac could be tidied up and the dead and
leaning trees replaced. Ecology
