and location of photographs The ideas and possibilities outlined below are designed to help members of the local community as they think about what could happen on this site. Nothing is fixed and alternative solutions may well emerge over the coming decade - it is for the local community to decide and enable it to happen. 1. Visual
Attributes - update 2004 This site is comprised
of four triangles of unkempt mown amenity grass
sitting between blocks of housing and Stone Moor
Road/Coal Pit Lane to the south. An assortment of
garden hedges and wooden fences divide the site
from private gardens and the areas of grass are
encircled by tarmac paths.
Safety The site is situated
next to well used roads and overlooked by the
housing, creating a relatively safe environment.
There is limited lighting along the pavement,
however, so it could feel slightly forbidding at
night. Activities that
the site supports at present The grass is
occasionally used for informal games of football.
2. 3. 4. The site could be
treated as part of a network of local play areas,
linking with the nearby Cedar Road open space no.1
and 2 sites through similar use of materials and
planting; each site could offer different types of
play equipment. Communal seating areas could be set
up for local residents and areas of grass could be
replaced with more visually interesting planting.
Habitat types and current uses of the site are marked in the tables below with an asterisk. Ecology
