Site name: Wood Royd Road
playground Zone: Outer Zone Land owner: SCC Leisure
Services Date of survey:
15-March-00 Current management: Amenity grass
mown. A well used playground. Proposed management: Playground mound

Survey - Aug 2004 Click map to see details
and location of photographs The ideas and possibilities outlined
below are designed to help members of the local community as
they think about what could happen on this site. Nothing is
fixed and alternative solutions may well emerge
over the
coming decade - it is for the local
community to decide and enable it to happen.. 1. Visual Attributes - update
2004 This slightly scruffy but well used
playground to the west of Wood Royd Road consists
of an area of patchy tarmac with several sets of
swings, two climbing frames and benches, surrounded
by mown amenity grass. A mound with two slides is
located in the centre of the site. Metal railings
bound the site and a mixed hedge backed with a
wooden fence screens it from the adjacent house and
garden to the south. A public footpath accessing
Fox Glen Wood (to the west) runs along the northern
boundary. Safety This site is right next to the road,
although it is safely fenced off, protecting young
children from traffic. Fox Glen Wood could seem
foreboding to users of the playground. The site is a children's play
area. Activities that could be
supported in the future The variety of playground equipment
could be improved and the use of landform in play
could be picked up in other areas of the site.
