Project Title

PARISH MAPS

Code

C3

Project summary

A recognised method to engage people in thinking about their immediate surroundings. Medias including paper, textile, ceramic, photograph, paint, a play, poem, music or video could be used. The finished product needs to be displayed where local people can come and view it with ease. It may be practical to divide the whole area up into the smaller areas that local people already think of as their own. Several of these projects could be initiated throughout the area.

Examples of good practice: Examples in Sheffield include a series commissioned by The Sheffield Wildlife Trust.

Project management

Schools are likely to be the best groups to get involved in this project, but other groups should be encouraged. Those taking part may need guidance. On completion, all members of the community should be allowed to view the results.
