Project
Title:
|
COMMUNITY
BARBECUES
|
CODE;
R6
|
|
Project
Summary:
|
|
|
Construction
of sturdy barbecues on suitable open spaces for
public use. Users will need to supply a
cooking grill, charcoal and food. The grill
support could be made from relatively widely spaced
thick gauge bars. Another option may be to have
mobile barbecue facilities and tie these in with
environmental project events to generate more
participation from local people and volunteers but
washing facilities would need to be provided for
those involved in work.
|
|
Project
Management
|
|
- Community
consultation on locations, design and
construction.
- Monitoring
for damage and vandalism. A workable
design as vandal proof as possible is strongly
recommended.
- Provision
of bins close by should be
considered.

Project
Viability
|
|
Constraints:
|
|
- Food
remains may attract vermin.
- Noise
and drinking of alcohol may result in
complaints.
- Potential
for area to be left in a mess after
use.
- Provision
of bin will result in the need for regular
emptying.
- Insurance,
legal and hygiene implications.
- Seasonal
and weather dependent use.
- May
attract vandalism.
