METHOD

REASON

Grassland management

GM1

Non-intervention methods for rough grassland. Some small areas may be available for wildflower meadow sowing.

Enhance and maintain biodiversity and visual amenity.

Hedgerow management

HM1

Gap up some small lengths with other species such as guelder rose, field maple or hazel. Plant more shrubs to make a thicker boundary. Create wildflower margin along inside of hedge boundary.

To maintain and enhance structure and long-term health of hedge and increase biodiversity.

Tree and shrub planting

TS1

Identify areas where this is feasible. Consider removal of larch and non-natives and enhance quality of planting.

To enhance the bare aspect of site, provide some protection from wind, increase biodiversity and visual amenity.

Planting of community orchard

CO1

Small area in the northernmost part of site.

For visual amenity, local food production and biodiversity.

Composting facilities

CF1

Small area in the northernmost part of site.

To provide compost for local use.

Kids play facilities

PF

Small area in the northernmost part of site for informal play with locally designed and made materials.

To increase play facilities for kids.

Wild bulb planting

BP1

In areas where tree and shrub planting are to take place.

Enhance biodiversity and visual amenity.

Dry stone wall restoration

DSR1

Restore wall along northern boundary with access points into open space.

To enhance site and secure boundary.

Construction of skateboarding rink

SBR1

Southernmost and least-used grassed football pitch would be ideal for construction of this facility (to include 5-a-side football and basketball hoops.

Increase availability of recreational facilities for young people.
