Aims and Objectives

Ecological

  • Some scrub, bramble and bracken control on the eastern part, encourage sward of bluebell and wavy hair grass glades. Wildflower ride/border along the southern boundary with installation of gravel path and some benches.
  • Control of weeds/wildflowers around graves should avoid use of herbicides - only mowing/trimming should be undertaken.
  • Some temporary wildflower meadow management on areas that are allocated for graves.
  • Management of formally laid out trees and shrubs along the northern edge of site where cherry laurel needs considerable reduction to allow some light into adjacent wood as well as Berberis near the cemetery entrance.

Community and educational

  • Flowers for graves and bulb planting where previous tree planting has taken place.
  • Quiet area in the eastern part, with some benches at various points on a route laid out possibly using existing desire lines and construction of benches.
  • Encourage introduction of green burials on this site (follow Bradfield Parish example).
