Local high school pupils gain work experience 09 Sep 2009 Six local high school pupils gained valuable work experience whilst spending their days carrying out practical environmental and conservation tasks with John and Kate, the two Project officers and the team of volunteers.
During the summer months of May, June and July, Steel Valley Project hosted three fortnight periods whereby two Year 10 pupils each from Stocksbridge High, King Edward VII and Bradfield High participated in the practical work days of the environmental team and volunteered their time. They got involved in work such as public footpath clearance, bird box making, gate repairs, office/admin, litter clearance in local woodland, woodland management, tools & vehicle maintenance, schools habitat management events and project planning. Their experience also enabled developing their team work, hand tool use and wildlife identification skills. Habitat management with Stocksbridge Junior pupils 09 Sep 2009 The environmental projects team carried out hedgerow maintenance with Year 6 pupils.
Access improved on public right of way at Whitwell Moor. 13 Aug 2009 Improvements to public access to Whitwell Moor have been taking place in recent weeks.

Gate and footpath repairs 08 Jul 2009 Over the last few months The Steel Valley Project have been very busy indeed.
The Steel Valley Project have been out and about mending and putting in new gates, so that local people can continue to explore their local area. Improvements to access on White Lee Moor 03 Mar 2009 The Steel Valley Project team have been carrying out work to improve access for walkers on Open Access land owned by Sheffield City Council at White Lee Moor.
Bridge Repairs 01 Dec 2008 The Team have been working in Fox Glen in Deepcar to repair bridges and paths damaged by flooding, to install new hand rails and remove fallen trees. Habitat management on Townend Common 01 Nov 2008 The Steel Valley Project volunteer team have been working on habitat management on Townend Common, Deepcar.
